WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATIVES

Moons Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael

Salary: Circa £22,000 pro rata per annum

Hours: Full time and part time positions available

Description:

Founded in 1891 and based in the Mendips, John Wainwright & Co. Ltd is an independent quarry, extracting basalt and producing a range of premium construction materials, including aggregates and asphalt for the construction industry.  With our recently opened £9m asphalt facility in Avonmouth, and plans for continued investment, now is a great time to work for our vibrant business.

 We are looking to recruit Weighbridge Operators to join our close-knit team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Weighbridge Supervisor, your main duties will include assisting with the smooth running of our delivery programmes and ensuring that vehicle weights are correct upon leaving site. Using your excellent communication skills, you will liaise with our sales team to ensure you are up to date with any changes to scheduled loads – making sure our customers receive their products on time. You will also deal directly with our collection customers, meaning you need to be confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also need to be compliance focused, to ensure that all legal obligations are adhered to.

You will be customer focused, methodical, highly organised, and detail conscious. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to liaise effectively with customers and colleagues. Good PC skills and an ability to use internal systems are essential. Weighbridge experience within a quarry or logistics environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

The weighbridge is in operation from 4.30am -5.00pm, therefore you will be required to work on a rotating shift pattern to cover the opening hours (Mon-Fri: 0430 – 1300/0600 – 1430/ 0800 – 1700 plus every third Saturday morning). The part time position is for 25 hours per week (Mon-Fri: 0600-1100). We require flexibility in this role and as such, you may be required to provide support outside of your normal working hours.

SURFACING OPERATIVES

Salary: Competitive + Benefits               Hours: 48 hours per week

Description:

We are looking for highly skilled surfacing operatives to work on site at various locations. The successful candidates will operate plant & equipment to lay material and complete jobs in accordance with the plan/programme for the site.

Working as part of a small team, it is essential that you are a good communicator, able to listen to instructions and carry them out effectively.  You must be Health & Safety aware and fully understand the need to comply with H&S requirements.

You will have a can-do attitude and take pride in your work with a desire to get the job done to specification and on time.

The ideal candidate will hold all relevant plant qualifications including Paver, Roller and Streetmaster.

A CSCS card is essential and NVQ Level 2 is desirable.
