QUARRY MANAGER

Moons Hill Quarry

Salary: Competitive + Company vehicle     Hours: 40 hours per week

We are a proudly independent quarrying business in the heart of the Mendips. We extract and process basalt from our quarry, and sell premium construction materials throughout the region. With plans for continued growth, now is a great time to join our successful team.

Reporting to the Operations Director, this role offers a challenging opportunity for an ambitious and self-motivated individual. We are looking for a Quarry Manager with proven experience and ability to be responsible for managing our basalt quarry at Moons Hill. This role carries full 8(1)(c) responsibilities in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999.

You will be responsible for all aspects of production including safety, environment, quality, customer service and staff management and will therefore be able to demonstrate your competence in all these areas through the application process. You will also be responsible for production requirements including maintenance, overseeing the shot firing process and management of consultants and contractors.

With a passion for the industry, you will be motivated and keen to deliver excellence in all aspects of quarry operations. You will be knowledgeable on Key Performance Indicators and be able to monitor, measure and report on a number of key efficiencies and drive through the required improvements/changes.

Ideally, you will have a strong quarry management background and large site/operations experience. As a minimum, you will NVQ Level 4 Health, Safety and Environmental Management for the extractive industries. Explosives/shot firing experience is essential. Geotechnical experience would also be advantageous.

As a member of the Institute of Quarrying, you will able to prove your competence with a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record.

ASPHALT PLANT OPERATIVE

Rockingham Park, Avonmouth

John Wainwright & Company is recruiting an Asphalt Plant Operative at our £9m state-of-the-art production facility in Avonmouth.

This is an exciting opportunity to build your career in a fast-moving industry, working with a company that is very much on the move. We’ve invested millions in asphalt production in recent years, and are growing at a rapid rate.

We’re looking for a hard-working, go-getting self-starter for this multi-functional role. It includes asphalt production/mixing, load out operations, loading shovel and general plant duties, working on rotation to give you plenty of variety day by day. Good customer service skills are essential for this role and high standards in this regard will be expected from all asphalt team members.

Our requirements:

We are looking for a flexible individual to cover the core opening hours (Mon-Fri: 0500-1500) however you will need to be willing to provide support outside of your normal working hours including weekends and nights.

WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATIVE

Rockingham Park, Avonmouth

Description:

John Wainwright & Company is recruiting a Weighbridge Operative at our £9m state-of-the-art production facility in Avonmouth.

We are looking to recruit a Weighbridge Operative to join our small team on a permanent basis.  Reporting to the Asphalt Plant Supervisor, your main duties will include assisting with the smooth running of our delivery programmes and ensuring that vehicle weights are correct upon leaving site.

Using your excellent communication skills, you will liaise with our sales team to ensure you are up to date with any changes to scheduled loads – making sure our customers receive their products on time. You will also deal directly with our collection customers, meaning you need to be confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also need to be compliance focused, to ensure that all legal obligations are adhered to.

You will be customer focused, methodical, highly organised, and detail conscious. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to liaise effectively with customers and colleagues. Good PC skills and an ability to use internal systems are essential. Weighbridge experience within a quarry or logistics environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

CIVILS OPERATIVE

Site-based

Salary: Competitive + Benefits     Hours: 48 hours per week

Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled Civils Operative to work on site at various locations. The successful candidate will be experienced in civil engineering operations including kerbing, Ironwork adjustments and drainage and complete jobs in accordance with the plan/programme for the site.

Working as part of a small team, it is essential that you are a good communicator and able to listen to instructions and carry them out effectively.  You must be Health & Safety aware and fully understand the need to comply with H&S requirements.

You will have a can-do attitude and take pride in your work with a desire to get the job done to specification and on time.

The ideal candidate will hold all relevant plant qualifications including 360 Excavator.

A CSCS card is essential and NVQ Level 2 is desirable.
