VIAFIX PLANT OPERATIVE
Stoke St Michael

Salary: Competitive     Hours: 47.5 hours per week

Description:

Operating within the Wainwright business and established in 2013, the Viafix plant produces a unique cold lay product (Viafix) for the market and its’ growing customer base.

As part of our ongoing growth plans, we are looking for a committed and hardworking Viafix Plant Operative to join our small team.

You will be responsible for operating and ensuring smooth running of the Viafix Plant facility, fulfilling customer orders on time and to the right quality.

On a daily basis, you will be bagging material, loading bags onto pallets and wrapping pallets ready for delivery. You will also be required to drive the forklift truck and telehandler, moving pallets and materials from and to storage and on/off vehicles. Consequently, a valid forklift truck licence and/or telehandler ticket is essential.

You will be compliance focused and used to working to set standards and procedures with regards to Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and legal requirements.

We are looking for a practical individual who is willing to undertake manual work and has a flexible attitude to work and hours. A production, construction or quarry background would be an advantage.

You will need to be a good communicator, able to build good relationships with your team, your manager and other staff in the business. A proven ability to identify problems early and escalate/solve them is also necessary.

Your hours of work will be 9.5 per day, Monday to Friday, usually starting at 5.00am however there will be a requirement for shift work, occasional overtime and weekend work at peak times of the year in order to meet demand

ASPHALT PLANT OPERATIVE
Avonmouth

John Wainwright & Company is recruiting an Asphalt Plant Operative to work at our £9m state-of-the-art production facility in Avonmouth, near Bristol.

This is an exciting opportunity to build your career in a fast-moving industry, working with a company that is very much on the move. We’ve invested millions in asphalt production in recent years, and are growing at a rapid rate.

We’re looking for a hard-working, go-getting self-starter for this multi-functional role. It includes asphalt production/mixing, load out operations, loading shovel, weighbridge and general plant duties, working on rotation to give you plenty of variety day by day. Good customer service skills are essential for this role and high standards in this regard will be expected from all asphalt team members.

WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATIVE
Moons Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael

Founded in 1891 and based on the Mendips, John Wainwright & Co. Ltd is an independent quarry, extracting basalt and producing a range of premium construction materials, including aggregates and asphalt for the construction industry.  With our £9m asphalt facility in Avonmouth and plans for continued investment, now is a great time to work for our vibrant business.

We are looking to recruit a Weighbridge Operative to join our close-knit team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Weighbridge Supervisor, your main duties will include assisting with the smooth running of our delivery programmes and ensuring that vehicle weights are correct upon leaving site. Using your excellent communication skills, you will liaise with our sales team to ensure you are up to date with any changes to scheduled loads – making sure our customers receive their products on time. You will also deal directly with our collection customers, meaning you need to be confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also need to be compliance focused, to ensure that all legal obligations are adhered to.

You will be customer focused, methodical, highly organised, and detail conscious. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to liaise effectively with customers and colleagues. Good PC skills and an ability to use internal systems are essential. Weighbridge experience within a quarry or logistics environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

The weighbridge is in operation from 4.30am -5.00pm. We are therefore looking for an individual to work on a rotating shift pattern to cover the opening hours (Mon-Fri: 0430 – 1300/0600 – 1430/0800-1700, plus every third Saturday morning). You will also be required to be flexible and willing to provide support outside of your normal working hours including weekends and nights.

APPRENTICE ASPHALT PLANT OPERATIVE
Multi-site (Moons Hill & Avonmouth)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Ever since it was founded in 1891, John Wainwright and Company Ltd has been going places. The question is: would you like to come too?

We are a proudly independent quarrying business in the heart of the Mendips. We extract and process basalt from our Moons Hill quarry, and sell premium construction materials throughout the region. These products include aggregates, asphalt and formation materials.

We are currently seeking an Apprentice Asphalt Plant Operative to join our asphalt team at our Moons Hill and Avonmouth asphalt plants.

In this varied role you will learn how to operate the plant and mix asphalt using the relevant systems; coordinate the load out and operate the weighbridge whilst gaining industry recognised qualifications.

You will have strong technical and practical abilities and must be a confident and keen learner. You will need to show us your enthusiasm, determination and commitment; in return you will receive comprehensive training both on and off the job.

The duration of the apprenticeship is 15 months, during that time you will cover a wide range of Health and Safety topics and work towards a Level 2 Diploma in Process Operations. You will also complete the Certificate in Construction Materials through the University of Derby.
