Moons Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael

Salary: Competitive

Full time

Do you want to lay the foundations of your future success? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to gain experience in our growing company, where we’ll invest in your development and enhance your skills.

Founded in 1891 and based on the Mendips, John Wainwright & Co. Ltd is an independent quarry, extracting basalt and producing a range of premium construction materials, including aggregates and asphalt for the construction industry.  With our £9m asphalt facility in Avonmouth and plans for continued investment, now is a great time to work for our vibrant business.

We are looking to recruit a Weighbridge Operative to join our close-knit team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Asphalt Plant Manager, your main duties will include assisting with the smooth running of our aggregates and asphalt delivery programmes and ensuring that vehicle weights are correct upon leaving site. Using your excellent communication skills, you will liaise with our sales team to ensure you are up to date with any changes to scheduled loads – making sure our customers receive their products on time. You will also deal directly with our collection customers, meaning you need to be confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also need to be compliance focused, to ensure that all legal obligations are adhered to.

You will be customer focused, methodical, highly organised, and detail conscious. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to liaise effectively with customers and colleagues. Good PC skills and an ability to use internal systems are essential. Weighbridge experience within a quarry or logistics environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

The core hours for this role are 47.5 per week, Monday to Friday 04:30 – 14:30 plus every third Saturday. Due to the nature of our business, you will need to be flexible and willing to provide support outside of your normal working hours including weekends and nights.
