CONTRACTS MANAGER

Moons Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael

Salary: Competitive     Hours: 47.5 hours per week

Description:

Due to recent growth resulting in increased workloads, John Wainwright & Co. Ltd.’s Contracting Division are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their growing team.

Reporting to the Contracting Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing a broad range of contracts, including term maintenance, therefore you will have extensive experience in surfacing operations at supervisory level and above.

You will be a confident communicator with the ability to negotiate and influence. You will have proven experience of managing clients and contracts and be able to hit the ground running when you join.

EXCAVATOR DRIVER

Moons Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael

Founded in 1891, John Wainwright & Company Ltd has a track record of growth and success.  We are a proudly independent quarrying business located in the heart of the Mendips. We extract and process basalt from our quarry, and sell premium construction materials throughout the region. With a new asphalt facility recently opened in Avonmouth, and plans for continued expansion, now is a great time to work for our vibrant company.

We are looking to appoint an Excavator Driver to join our hardworking quarry team.

You will be required to excavate overburden in line with our quarry development plan; work the quarry face, manipulate and move rock and load dump trucks. Ideally you will have worked in a similar environment. You will be an experienced operator who can adapt to changes in working environment and be comfortable working under minimal supervision.

We are looking for a self-starter who takes pride in their work. You will be conscientious, reliable and, ideally, have an interest in working in a quarry. Due to the nature of the role, you must hold a full driving licence. An excavator ticket/licence is essential for this role. Other plant tickets/licences are desirable however not essential as full training will be provided. Geotechnical awareness is a distinct advantage.

TRACTOR DRIVER

We are looking to appoint a Tractor Driver to ensure the smooth running of the site dust suppression, cleaning and vehicle refuelling.

You will be required to operate the tractor and ancillary equipment in accordance to safety, health & environmental, quality assurance, site specific rules and all legal requirements. You will also be required to liaise with the managers across the business to discuss routine and unplanned dust suppression, cleaning and vehicle refuelling requirements.

We are looking for a self-starter with an eye for detail who is keen to maintain high standards. You will be hardworking, reliable and ideally have an interest in working in a quarry. Due to the nature of the role, you must hold a full driving licence. Experience of driving tractors or similar plant is desirable however not essential as full training will be provided.

WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATIVE

Rockingham Park, Avonmouth

John Wainwright & Company is recruiting a Weighbridge Operative at our £9m state-of-the-art production facility in Avonmouth.

We are looking to recruit a Weighbridge Operative to join our small team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, your main duties will include assisting with the smooth running of our delivery programmes and ensuring that vehicle weights are correct upon leaving site.

Customer service experience is essential for this role as you will be greeting visitors and managing all vehicles that enter and exit the site. You will be comfortable with carrying out admin duties in order to provide drivers with the relevant paperwork for their loads.

Using your excellent communication skills, you will liaise with our sales team to ensure you are up to date with any changes to scheduled loads – making sure our customers receive their products on time. You will also deal directly with our collection customers, meaning you need to be confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also need to be compliance focused, to ensure that all legal obligations are adhered to.

You will have excellent attention to detail and be highly organised. This busy role will require you to be calm under pressure and be able to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. Good computer skills and an ability to use internal systems are essential. Weighbridge experience within a quarry or logistics environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

We are looking for a flexible individual to cover the core opening hours (Mon-Fri: 0500-1500) however you will need to be willing to provide support outside of your normal working hours including weekends and nights.

SURFACING OPERATIVE

Site-based

Salary: Competitive + Benefits     Hours: 48 hours per week

Description:

We are looking for highly skilled and hardworking Surfacing Operatives to join our existing gangs.

Working as part of a small team, it is essential that you are a good communicator and able to listen to instructions and carry them out effectively.  You must be Health & Safety aware and fully understand the need to comply with H&S requirements.

You will have a can-do attitude and take pride in your work with a desire to get the job done to specification and on time.

The ideal candidates will hold all relevant plant qualifications including Paver, Roller and Streetmaster.

A CSCS card is essential and NVQ Level 2 is desirable.
