After four demanding days in the saddle, Tom Longland, CEO of John Wainwright & Co Ltd, has successfully completed the 2026 Ziggurat charity ride from Bilbao to Madrid in support of Action Medical Research.

Alongside fellow riders, Tom covered more than 350 miles and climbed over 20,000 feet, often cycling in temperatures approaching 40°C. The challenge tested both endurance and determination, but the team crossed the finish line having achieved something truly remarkable.

Most importantly, the event raised over £250,000 for Action Medical Research, including £15,000 raised during the charity auction on the final evening. These funds will help support vital research for babies and children affected by disease, disability and serious illness.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated, offered encouragement and supported Tom throughout the challenge. Special thanks also to Brett Aggregates and the many sponsors, organisers and supporters whose contributions helped make this exceptionally well-organised event such a success.

While the ride may be complete, the fundraising continues. It is not too late to contribute and support this fantastic cause. Every donation will help Action Medical Research continue its life-changing work and fund vital research for children and families who need it most.
