The strength of John Wainwright & Co Ltd has always been our people, and we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Paula Millward, who joined us in January 2026 as Asphalt Unit Manager at our Moons Hill Asphalt Plant.

With nearly three decades of experience in the asphalt industry, Paula has built an impressive career spanning operations, distribution, sales, customer service, IT, weighbridge operations and plant management. Her diverse background has given her a wealth of knowledge and a passion for continuous learning, making her a fantastic addition to the Wainwright team.

After many years with one employer, deciding to make a career move wasn’t something Paula took lightly. However, Wainwright’s reputation as a business that genuinely values its people, combined with the opportunity to join a growing and ambitious company, made the decision an easy one.

“Wainwright has such a strong reputation for looking after its people, and I already knew many of the team through industry connections. It felt like the perfect opportunity to take on a new challenge.”

Now six months into the role, Paula says she’s thoroughly enjoying life at Wainwright. Alongside the satisfaction of leading a busy asphalt plant, she’s found a positive work-life balance that allows her to continue developing professionally while spending quality time with her young family.

One area Paula has particularly enjoyed is expanding her knowledge through the production of Viafix, adding another dimension to her experience and working closely with colleagues to produce a product trusted across the industry.

Looking ahead, Paula is focused on supporting Wainwright’s sustainability ambitions by increasing the use of Recycled Asphalt Planings (RAP), helping to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the exceptional quality our customers have come to expect.

“The lab team does a fantastic job helping us optimise our mixes. It’s another example of how Wainwright lives its values – delivering quality to our customers while continually improving the way we work and supporting our sustainability goals.”

When she’s not at work, Paula enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, and whenever the opportunity arises, you’ll most likely find them on a ski slope together.
