Lily Chant, Business Administrator

I joined Wainwright straight from college as a Business Administration Apprentice. It was great, because I got to earn while I was working towards my Level Three qualification, grounding what I was learning in the real world.

I was given a permanent post in 2020 and love my job. The people are so friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic.

I like the mix of things that I get involved in. I work closely with the People and Culture department, but also helped the Safety, Health and Environment Manager to prepare for our ISO 45001 accreditation. In a job like this, you learn so much, and everyone’s always keen to share their knowledge.

If I can, I’d like to develop my career at Wainwright. It feels as if there is lots of opportunity for progression and I’ve benefitted from some brilliant mentoring from senior colleagues. To have secured a job in a place like this so soon after finishing school feels like a dream. I’d recommend the apprenticeship route to anyone!

Outside of work, I have been in love with horses all my life. I’ve owned my current horse, Rio, for 10 years. Rio is a gentle giant that’s looked after me throughout my many years of riding. He’s also very sociable, so much so I’ve recently had to get him his very own pet pony named Pippin. Rio also has a special bond with my 2 year old Labrador Stanley, they’re now best friends and love to lick each other over the fence.
